Point North is a collection of images based on the story of motherhood. Simone had this to say about the project:

“The work references my journey into the Icelandic landscape and the found images I have gathered over time, together traces of the tangible and intangible are brought to attention. Looking at the landscape and subject as defined and informed by each, Point North challenges the idea of reading the image, meaning here is abstract where symbolism frames perception and so exists a visual language of beauty and grief, it is the story of women based on familiar stories.”

Simone Darcy was an artist-in-residence at Neslist in Skagaströnd, Iceland in 2015. Point North has been shown at Verge Gallery, Sydney, in 2016; Art System Wickham, Newcastle, in 2016. The image “Valley Sneak” was selected in the Experimental Photo Prize at Gaffa Gallery, Sydney, in 2016.
